On 18th December, 1914, the 1st Royal Fusiliers battalion of 17 Brigade, 6th Division, moved into the trenches near Chapelle d’Armentières where they remained until relieved on 23rd December. James Cox was killed, probably by sniper fire, on their first day back in these trenches. |
